
Vijay Gupta
Founder and Artistic Director, Street Symphony; First Violinist, Los Angeles Philharmonic
Vijay Gupta is a violinist and advocate for artistic voices at the center of social justice. As a 2011 TED senior fellow, he founded Street Symphony, a nonprofit performing arts organization that engages communities experiencing homelessness and incarceration through musical performance, teaching artistry, and dialogue. Gupta is a first violinist with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, which he joined at age 19 after receiving his master’s in violin performance from Yale School of Music, and faculty member of Bard College Longy School of Music. A 2017 Citizen Artist Fellow with the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, he serves on the boards of Americans for the Arts and LA’s 24th Street Theatre.
