Senior Writer, Global Health, STAT
Helen Branswell is a senior writer at STAT, covering infectious diseases and global health. She came to STAT from The Canadian Press, where she had been the national news agency’s medical reporter for 15 years. In nearly 30 years at CP, she also covered general news and national politics and was the agency’s European correspondent from 1995 to 2000. Branswell has reported on global health outbreaks including SARS, H5N1 bird flu, the 2009 H1N1 flu pandemic, Ebola, and now Zika. She was a 2011 Nieman Global Health Fellow at Harvard, CDC Knight fellow in 2004, and a Southam journalism fellow at the University of Toronto in 1992-1993.
