Evan Thomas is a journalist and author of nine books, including two — John Paul Jones and Sea of Thunder — New York Times bestsellers. He was a writer, correspondent, and editor for 33 years at TIME and Newsweek, including ten years as Washington bureau chief at Newsweek, from which he retired in 2010. Thomas wrote more than 100 cover stories, the election specials from 1996 to 2008, and won two National Magazine Awards. He taught writing and journalism at Harvard and Princeton, where, from 2007 to 2014, he was Ferris Professor of Journalism. Thomas has appeared on many TV and radio shows, including PBS’s “Charlie Rose” more than 40 times.
