Anthony Fauci

Anthony Fauci is director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) at the US National Institutes of Health, where he oversees an extensive research portfolio on infectious and immune-mediated diseases. He is one of the key advisors to the White House and to the US Department of Health and Human Services on global HIV/AIDS issues and on public health preparedness initiatives against emerging infectious disease threats. As chief of NIAID’s Laboratory of Immunoregulation, Fauci also contributes to research on pathogenesis and treatment of immune-mediated and infectious diseases. His honors include the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the National Medal of Science, and the Lasker Award for Public Service.
